GROOMING YOUR CHIN

We groom our Chin weekly so they maintain show coats.
For a pet groom, any shampoo including your own shampoo will work.
It is paramount that what ever shampoo and or conditioner you use that
you fully rinse it out of the coat, or your puppy will have irritated skin and
you never get water in their ears or nose.

Once puppy is towel dry, then you can take a hair blower and your brush and
blow and brush the coat towards the head starting with the rear.
This will give puppy the desired light and flowing coat appearance.
All our pups go home used to having their nails dremmeled weekly.

PRODUCTS FOR GROOMING:

Get your puppy used to being on the table with their head in the loop
and having their nails dremelled every week. Sunday is our nail day.
Nail dremel you can buy at Home Depot.
I prefer to use the coursest dremel sanding band I can find.
Dremel Micro 8V Max Rotary Tool Kit has a lithium battery
and has a light on it which is really handy !
and I would HIGHLY recommend also getting the Dremel EZ DrumMandrel Model # EZ407SA-01
as makes changing the sanding bands super easy !
I got mine at Home Depot and it has been 2 years in use.
Using a Dremel does take practice, to get comfortable using it, so don't get discouraged.
I would highly recommend that you wear a mask and safety glasses.

Chin don’t really mat. They may get a tangle in their ear or tail occasionally.
A bath every 7-10 days will keep them smelling fresh and shedding down to a minimum.

Take care not to get water down your baby’s nose OR in ears, in the tub.
A washcloth and shampoo work well to clean around the eyes and face.
Grooming supplies available at Wheatley Wares or Ren's Pet Depot in Canada
http://www.Petedge.com in USA.

After the bath, thoroughly blow dry the coat. We use a boar bristle brush for this on babies.
I blow dry their hair backwards, from tail, towards their head.
Once she’s older, and has more coat, you may want to use a pin brush.
For those considering showing their Chin Chris Christensen systems
has a complete sample kit for drop coats

SPECTRUM TEN SHAMPOO and Conditioner is designed for Chin type Coats
PRECIOUS DROP, Leave on spray I use on damp coat before blow drying

Whitman's DiamaGroove Pinnacle dremmel tip
In Canada available at Wheatleywares
and or, at most AKC Dog shows.
This is an amazing DIAMOND grinder that will not catch the coat.
I will not use anything else on my chin's nails.

ARTERO IONIZED CARBON ULTRA-ABSORBENT TOWEL
Game changer ! Must moisten before using.
Never use towels again ! These Shammy like cloths get all the water.
Can get from Artero, or in Canada at Wheatlywares or Amazon.

Dog Hair Blowers
I do use a force air blower, after towelling, carefully, to get main water out of coat.
Then I use a stand dryer while brushing opposite the lay of the coat, carefully.
You don't need an expensive hair blower, but it sure will be easier, to blow them dry
with a free hand to brush with and makes a HUGE difference in lay of the coat, when you blow them dry.
My guys will air dry, unless I'm showing them or it is cold outside.

YES it is a Papillon, however I use similar Show Preperation
